	LTC William J. Tedesco assumed command Field Evaluation Detachment (Special) (CH-47) (Provisional) on Janurary 18, 1966 at Fort Benning, GA.  On April 19, 1966, the unit was redesignated: 53rd Aviation Detachment, Field Evaluation (Provisional) and ordered to Vietnam for 180 days.
